DESIGNING YOUR REPORT: Starting with the end in mind

Report-writing starts with day-one of your research project. To begin, you must have a clear understanding of the goals and objectives for your research. Check out our Charter Building article for more information on preparing for a research project. Below are a few pointers to keep in mind.

Design your report template before you go into the field and include the following pieces so information can be dropped in as you gather it:

  • Title Page
  • Executive Summary
  • Report Outline: Table of Contents
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Project Background
  • Project Methodology
  • Participants
  • Project Objectives/Findings Outcome
  • Recommendations
  • Next Steps
